Interactive sound installation
Ground explores what happens when the human body interacts with the ambient electromagnetic radiation in the gallery space. Electromagnetic (EM) waves are all around us in the technology-rich environments where we spend our daily lives. Though invisible, EM waves can be received and transformed into sound using radio antennae. In fact a host of things can be used receive EM waves—in Ground, the human body becomes the receiver. As visitors move through an otherwise soundless environment, they reveal the presence of EM waves and translate them into sound. Ground reminds us all our actions have repercussions, and that we all live our lives in complex and ever-expanding magnetic fields.
