Sound Installation
FLESH + WOOD + METAL, the first-ever collaboration between Magali Babin and Herman Kolgen, is an interactive sound installation using the basic components of a drum broken down to its basic parts—skin, wood, and metal. What remains are three circular pieces of equipment that unlock the full evocative, sonic, and symbolic potential of this “new luthery.”
Vibration, scratching, rubbing, percussion: a whole range of sound textures unfold in these three distinct sonic universes in which sound is harnessed and shaped with great subtlety. The opening will feature a live performance by the artists using the deconstructed drumset.
