Robotic performance
Cinétose is an immersive robotic performance: the spectator enters a large electronic-mechanical creation for a total spatial, sonic, and visual experience as large sheets of steel hung from moveable gridding above the audience make a gradual, artfully choreographed descent. How will the crowd react to this reconfiguration of their space? And what sensory mechanisms are awakened in this kind of somatic experience?
This new work from Projet EVA, a Montreal collective led by Simon Laroche and Etienne Grenier, references motion sickness and challenges our relationship with space. Combining disciplines including robotics, electronics, audio, and video, the collective’s work touches on themes of loss and restriction with a focus on exploring technological means of deprogramming percepts.
